CNL-SU20HB28C – Part of Council Tool’s new “Sport Utility” lineup, this axe has gone through a major upgrade from their standard line of painted axes. Rather than a painted finish, the Sport Utility line is finished in a dark natural forged finish, with a polished, sharp and ready to use blade, and wedged high and proud with a poplar wood wedge and a steel wedge rather than the previous aluminum wedge. The naturally dark forged and heat-treated head is oiled just like their premium axes. 2 lbs Hudson Bay Axe head outfitted with a 28″ curved hickory handle. One or two-handed camp axe. Used for light splitting, chopping, driving tent pegs, etc. The pattern is thought to have originated from Biscayan? in Northern Spain, near France. French traders used this hand axe as a trade tool in their dealings with Native Americans for fur and other commodities in the Hudson Bay area, St. Lawrence River, and other trade routes.
